The minutes of the October 17, 2007 meeting were approved.

On behalf of the Marketing and Promotion Committee, Commissioner Reynolds moved that the Commission approve a grant proposal request from CRT/tanaka in the amount of $311,500 + $100,000 set aside for small projects.  The motion was seconded and unanimously approved.  The committee also received a request from the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation in the amount of $13,354.26 for the funding of a 25,000-piece educational and marketing mailing to targeted lists, including production of a local brochure to educate the public about the life of a racehorse after his racing career is over, with a focus on the benefits for horses and inmates of the “Greener Pastures” program.  The motion was seconded and unanimously approved.

Acting on the recommendation from Mr. Bowker, the Commission approved Colonial Downs’ December simulcasting schedule.

Iain Woolnough, Vice President and General Manager of Colonial Downs, provided an overview of the 2007 Harness Meet.

The Commission set the next meeting for December 19, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. in the Horsemen’s Building at Colonial Downs.
